Muay Thai for kids and adults

Our Muay Thai program is designed for students at all levels of skill and fitness. Whether you want to learn self defense, get into better shape or challenge your mind, this program is for you!

Muay Thai is a style of kickboxing that utilizes eight points of contact. Techniques will be taught and practiced including punching, kicking, elbows, knees, clenching and sweeps. This fun and energetic class is perfect for anyone looking to get in a great workout or desiring to take it to the next level for sparring.

Do I have to be in shape to do Muay Thai?

Absolutely not. Anyone who wants to train can. Our program will help beginners and all fitness levels get into the best shape of their lives, and training sessions can burn up to 1,000 calories per hour. This means your fitness level will increase exponentially once you start training Muay Thai. You’ll get to lose weight while building your arsenal of Muay Thai techniques

Can I practice Muay Thai at open mats?

All Wolverine members can use open mat time to work on the bags or kick shields and enhance their techniques. Unsupervised hard sparring will not be allowed during open mat. We may add full sparring time to the schedule in the future.

Will we be able to spar?

Sparring is always optional; a student is encouraged to spar when he or she and the instructor decide they are ready and will be partnered with someone of comparable skill, strength, and size.  Brand new beginners aren’t allowed to spar until they learn defensive techniques. After a set amount of training, students will be encouraged to take part in light, technical sparring to apply techniques and strategies, but they are not required to spar.
